Privacy Policy

Privacy-first document creation.

Locke Direct is designed to keep document information in your browser whenever possible. Questionnaire answers and completed document contents are not sent to analytics providers. We collect only the limited usage, transaction, and technical data needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Information we collect

When you use Locke Direct, we may collect:

  • Account information — email address if you create an account.
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Locke Direct does not store your full payment card details.
  • Purchase records — product purchased, date, amount, and revision usage for entitlement verification.
  • Usage data — query-free page views on allowlisted public marketing pages.

Document data and retention

  • Questionnaire answers — transmitted only for server-side document assembly and not persisted in draft metadata on our servers.
  • Completed document text — temporarily stored to deliver your requested file, then deleted after the first successful single-use download or scheduled for deletion within 24 hours, whichever happens first.
  • Draft metadata — non-sensitive progress metadata expires after 30 days; questionnaire answers remain browser-local and are not stored in draft metadata.

Ask Locke

When you use Ask Locke, your chat messages and limited context needed to identify a document or explain a form field are sent through OpenRouter to the selected AI model provider. Completed questionnaire values are not automatically included, except for the selected state when it is needed to use Locke Direct's maintained jurisdiction records. Facts you type directly into the chat are included in the request. Ask Locke requests are restricted to zero-data-retention provider routes, and Locke Direct does not store the conversation on its servers.

Cookies and analytics

Locke Direct uses self-hosted analytics and, when configured, Google Analytics 4 to understand visits to allowlisted public marketing pages after you allow analytics cookies. Tracking sends a query-free public path and page title; Google advertising features, Google Signals, and ad personalization remain disabled. Analytics providers may receive limited technical request data such as an IP address and browser or device information. We do not send questionnaire answers, names, addresses, Ask Locke messages, payment information, or document contents to analytics services, and we honor browser Do Not Track settings. You can reject analytics cookies or withdraw your choice by clearing this site's storage.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. Locke Direct does not store your full credit card number or payment card details. Stripe's use of your payment information is governed by their privacy policy.

Data sharing

Locke Direct does not sell your personal information. We share information only as necessary to provide the service — with Stripe for transactions, Railway for service operation, OpenRouter and its selected model provider when you use Ask Locke, our isolated self-hosted analytics service, and Google Analytics 4 for the limited public-page measurements described above.

Your rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated purchase records by contacting us. Browser-local data (drafts, answers) can be cleared at any time through your browser settings or the Account page in the Locke Direct workspace.
